Snow Characteristics Comments
Storm snow came in right side-up and bonded well to the old snow surface. Storm snow is ~30 cms (12") settled, although deeper in places. The top 5-10 cms is low-density stellars similar to what we'd expect in midwinter.
Comments
The new snow would sluff easily on steep slopes, but only entrained the top 5-15 cms (2-6") of storm snow as the snow underneath was well-bonded to the old snow surface. The old snowpack is frozen solidly, so any concerns are related to new snow. With sunshine forecast for Saturday, expect the usual wet sluffs on all but upper elevation northerly slopes.
