General conditions: Skins were ripped and skiing/splitboarding happened today. Welcome back winter, we missed you. Above the winter trailhead there are 20-45 cm of medium and light density snow. At treeline we noted pockets of wind deposition, some of it with a 1F semi-supportable 5 cm on top. Our few shallow pits showed signs of faceting near the ground surface. Solar aspect meadows got wet and will have a melt -freeze crust tomorrow. Overall pretty good thin conditions for some early Nov wiggles in the trees and meadows. Tips up!!
Also a good day to dust off your avy gear and practice a beacon drill or two.
Road conditions: Slick ruts in the new snow up to 8" deep. One Subaru made it up. Road above the winter TH would actually be decent for some classic XC skiing.
Some people go cat skiing, we chose to go dog skiing...
