We were up Snake Creek teaching an AIARE 1 and noticed a crown from a distance. I rode up and took a quick glance at it. I didn't grab much info, it looks to have happened last night.
Forecaster note: Staples, Champion, & Kelly were under this slope on Jan 4th right when the faceted snow surface had gotten capped by 1cm of snow. Much of this slope had been heavily tracked by sleds and the weak layer had been compacted except at the ridgetop where this slide happened.
