The overall avalanche danger rating is LOW today on the Manti Skyline.
You can travel around in most terrain without too much worry about getting caught in an avalanche. Keep in mind that LOW danger doesn't mean NO danger. Here is what I'm looking out for today:
- Lingering wind slabs: It seems pretty unlikely to trigger one of these today but if you were to trigger one it would be in the higher terrain on VERY steep slopes that face north through east.
- Wet avalanche activity: This also seems like it will be a minor issue today. We had a solid freeze overnight which will have locked up the new snow. I don't think it's going to get warm enough today to make the snowpack become unstable. Increasing clouds and moderate wind speeds should also hold wet activity at bay. If you find yourself in punchy, wet sloppy snow, it's time to avoid being on or below steep slopes.
