There is a MODERATE avalanche danger on the Manti Skyline today.
Continued warming could make the snowpack become unstable and we may start to see natural avalanches today or Tuesday. Glide Cracks continue to open up and these may release causing full depth avalanches. It's a strange time to be in the mountains and I really don't recommend being on or below steep terrain while this significant warm up is progressing.
Here is what to look out for:
- Any recent avalanches. If you see avalanches, then more avalanches are likely.
- If you find yourself in really wet, punchy and sloppy snow where you are penetrating really deep into the snowpack, it is time to avoid being on OR BELOW steep slopes.
