Forecast for the Skyline Area Mountains

Overall, the avalanche danger rating on the Skyline is LOW.
Human triggered avalanches are unlikely.
I would still avoid the steepest upper elevation slopes that have recent deposits of wind drifted snow.

Weather and Snow
Current Conditions: Riding conditions are hit or miss with wind blasted snow and lots of sheltered areas with very carvable powder. Temperatures got into the mid 30s on Friday and were all over the place overnight with readings anywhere between 6˚F to 33˚F. There's been a slight bump in wind speed from the south but overall it remains pretty light.
Mountain Weather: It looks like we'll see cloud cover this morning. The sun may filter through a bit as the day goes on. High temperatures should get into the upper 20s to low 30s. Wind from the south will be light and probably slowing in speed. We have a couple more days of nice sunny mild weather then a storm shaping up for Tuesday into Wednesday. Hard to say how much new snow we'll get just yet but it looks like a decent refresher.

Description
If you use normal caution today, you will have no danger of being caught in an avalanche.
  • Avoid being on or below large cornices
  • Avoid "pillowy" looking drifts that are on steep slopes
  • Only put one person at a time on steep terrain
  • Don't regroup at the bottom of steep slopes
If you are pushing the limits and getting into really steep, radical terrain in the upper elevations, you might still find a place where you could trigger a recent wind drift or slab.
