Comments
Great April powder day with cold snow before the sun got to it. Observed natural rollerballing occurring around 10am and the first 1/2" of new snow beginning to become saturated above 8000' around 11am. North, northeast facing slopes appeared to be holding cold snow on our exit all the way to about 7000-7500 feet.
Pried this wet loose out on a steeper southeast facing slope on our way out with a forceful turn during primetime heating. Top 3-4" of fresh entrained all new snow running 500 - 600' slowly downhill depositing chunky debris several feet deep in a terrain trap. Slow-running but heavy, bending and cracking small trees on its way down. Avoid being underneath these steep solar facing slopes or within steep gulley features during this rapid warm up of the next several days.
