Travelled up Thomas Fork this morning ahead of this weekend's storm. Found an upside down feeling snowpack with frequent small collapses and trapdoor trail breaking. Winds have moved a lot of snow around and loaded areas are looking real scary at the moment.
we poked our heads out onto a steep north facing slope to see if we could get any movement and we're able to intentionally trigger a large collapse that broke about 30' wide and nearly 2' deep. The slab separated but didn't move with much energy. We didn't approach the crown for safety reasons.
Skiing in the protected low angle terrain was quite good. I'll be avoiding steep slopes of pretty much any aspect for more than a little while. Going to get spicy this weekend.
