Advisory: Skyline Area Mountains | Issued by Brett Kobernik for Monday - January 2, 2017 - 7:10am |
---|
current conditions The southwest wind has increased as the next series of storms starts to move in. Scattered nowfall has started with no real accumulation yet. Mountain temperatures are around 20. The current snow surface has become weak over the last 5 days or so. It is to the point where it's possible that it could act as a "persistent weak layer" once we load more snow on top of it. If this happens, we will need to greatly change our behavior in how we travel. We have enjoyed very stable conditions up to this point. This may not be the case anymore if this weak layer becomes active. I'll be keeping a close eye on it, stay tuned! |
weather We'll see strong southwest wind along the higher terrain today with snowfall. Temperatures will be in the upper teens. I am anticipating 4 to 8 inches of snow accumulation. Snow should continue into Tuesday with a few more inches of accumulation. The long range looks pretty wet and active with the next system moving through Wednesday and Thursday. Yet another system looks like it will move in about Sunday. |
