During the past seven years, I have had the honor of working with the amazing backcountry community and some of the most passionate people I have ever met. It has been an incredible journey working alongside such a passionate and dedicated team in the pursuit of promoting safety and awareness in the backcountry. My time leading the UAC  will always be the highlight of my career.

During this time, we've witnessed remarkable growth at the UAC, achieving milestones that include the expansion of our statewide avalanche education program, the revitalization of the Know Before You Go Program, heightened community avalanche awareness initiatives, and a concerted effort to spread avalanche education across the state. Watching the UAC team accomplish these feats has been both inspiring and rewarding.

With a heavy heart, I must inform you that I have made the difficult decision to step down from my role as the leader of the UAC after seven fulfilling years. I will continue in my current capacity until my successor is identified and is fully onboarded. However, I am excited to share that my commitment to the UAC's mission remains unwavering. Following the transition, I will stay actively involved as an avalanche educator and advisor, focusing on advancing our mission, spending more time within the community, and leading new projects.  

The UAC is well-prepared for this transition. Our board of directors is diligently working on plans to identify someone who shares our vision and values as the next executive director, guiding the UAC into the future. Throughout this period of change, the board, the entire staff, and I will work together to ensure a seamless transition.

As we navigate this transition, rest assured that the UAC remains steadfast in its commitment to the mission of keeping people on top of The Greatest Snow on Earth®. We will continue to provide the communities we serve with the tools they need to make informed decisions in the backcountry and return home safely each day.
